About this place
Ascending to the 5th floor of the Square Hibiya Building, guests step through the door of LOUNGE BAR Courage into an unpretentious bar space. A natural starting point is the selection of infusion cocktails, where distinct flavors are steeped directly into base spirits. The house ginger Moscow Mule, made with slowly steeped fresh ginger, delivers a brisk, peppery kick that makes for a refreshing first drink after work.
Curiosity runs through the rest of the list, from an aromatic lemongrass gin and tonic to Japanese accents like sansho pepper and shiso, and even an unconventional spirit steeped with hard cheese. Playful creations also appear, including fruit-laden mojitos, seasonal fruit cocktails, and the nostalgic, popsicle-inspired Otona no Gari-Gari-san.
The backbar holds an ample whiskey selection spanning Japanese labels such as Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Yoichi, as well as Islay single malts and Speyside Scotches. Diners unsure of what to pick can simply describe their preferred flavor profile or mood, and the bartenders will suggest a pour to match.
With hours running late into the night, the lounge functions just as well for an unhurried nightcap or a relaxed solo drink after dinner, offering a comfortable place to conclude an evening around Yurakucho.
